Elizabeth Okaome has been a community manager for over seven years and an advocate for women in tech. She is the founder of Empower Her, a female tech community whose goal is to get as many women as possible into the tech space. Her community, which was founded in 2021, currently has over 6,000 women in over 75 countries across the world.
Elizabeth’s journey in community management began when she involved herself in communities and volunteered to organise tech events for them. She then served as a GirlLead Project Bootcamp in Benin City, where over 50 girls were trained in different tech skills. She is also an organiser at a Google Developers Group Benin and a lead at Google Women Tech Makers in Benin City.
Aside from this, Elizabeth has worked as a project lead for Traindemy, community manager at Future Academy Africa, and Product community manager at PennyTree.
Elizabeth is the current leader of the Developer Ecosystem at Interswitch Group, where she grew the community of external and internal developers at Interswitch by 500% in just 9 months.
On her LinkedIn, Elizabeth hints that she is about to launch a global project focused on women, which she will reveal soon. We look forward to this and to many more achievements she hopes to accomplish in the near future.
