What is Web 3 and How Can You Join the Moving Train

Web 3 is expected to reach $81.5 billion by 2030 and has been projected to increase at a compound rate of 43.7% annually. This Web 3 sector provides many opportunities, and if you want to join the moving train, now is the time. But first, what is Web 3?

Web3 is the third generation of the World Wide Web, the next evolution of the Internet in which you have control over everything. You get your own pictures, data, and identity without middlemen like banks or apps; you just do them directly with others.

It is powered by blockchain, which is a digital ledger that keeps track of all transactions and interactions without being controlled by anyone.

In other words, we can say Web 3, also known as the decentralised web, is the next generation of the Internet. Your data is secured without big companies like Google and Facebook monitoring or controlling the Internet, and all your transactions are transparent. In addition, you have complete ownership of your data and digital assets.

Some of the examples of Web 3 are Cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Ethereum, Decentralised Finance (DeFi) like Uniswap and SushiSwap, Non-fungible tokens (NFT) that can be music, art, and all collectables, and Decentralised Apps (dApps) browsers like Brave browser.

How to Join the Web 3 Movement

  1. Understand and Learn About the Basics of Web 3: To learn about Web 3, blockchain, decentralisation, smart contracts, and cryptocurrency, you can watch videos on YouTube, read articles, take online courses, access resources, and follow simple guides on platforms like Coinbase and Medium.
  1. Join Communities: Networking and joining communities are really important in your journey and will help you navigate the industry successfully. Follow Web 3 groups on platforms like Twitter, Discord, or Telegram. Community members tend to share tips, updates, and the latest information and answer your questions concerning Web 3.
  1. Set Up a Crypto Wallet: A crypto wallet is like an online bank account for Web 3. You can use it to store your cryptocurrencies and NFTs. MetaMask or Trust Wallet are beginner-friendly wallets you can use to store digital money.
  1. Attend Workshops and Events: Meeting other like-minded people on the Web 3 space will give you deeper insights and allow you to learn from experts.
  1. Try Buying Cryptocurrency: If you have the financial capability, you can buy a small cryptocurrency. To get comfortable, you can start with something as low as $10 or less. Luno, Coinbase, and Binance are trusted platforms to buy from.
  1. Explore Web 3 Apps (dApps): Visit websites and apps that use Web 3. Examples are OpenSea, Uniswap, and Axie Infinity. Play around and familiarise yourself with them.
  1. Build Skills for Web 3: You can learn technical skills like blockchain development, smart contract programming, or UI/UX design. Non-tech roles like content creation, community management, and marketing are also in demand in the Web 3 space.
  1. Contribute or Invest in Web 3: You can do this by participating in token sales, airdrops, or staking opportunities. You can also contribute to Web 3 open-source projects or join startups in the space. Lastly, consider building your own projects or collaborating on decentralised projects and earning rewards.

Learning about Web 3 takes time, especially as a beginner, so start slow, keep learning, use only tested and trusted websites, and always ask questions when in doubt. Make sure you stay up to date with the latest trends, tools, platforms, and news on Web 3.

Finally, be open to new knowledge and incorporate Web 3 into your existing skillset.
