Startup Spotlight: FriendnPal

FriendnPal is the First AI-powered app with multilingual capability to provide mental health support to people in Africa. It was founded by Esther Eruchie in 2023 to ensure everybody gets support regardless of their language and location. 

FriendnPal’s mission is to bring affordable mental health awareness to all African communities and destigmatise mental health conversations. 

By leveraging technology and innovation, they help bridge the gap in mental health services and offer affordable solutions for everyone. This initiative raises awareness, educates communities, and empowers people seeking help without fear or shame.

FriendnPal’s goal is to reach over 30+ African Countries in 3-5 years, with an estimated reach of 7 African countries yearly. 

So far, they have impacted over 5,000 people, including correctional facilities in over 10 marginalised communities and 500 medical screenings. They have partnered with mental health organisations and other organisations, including the Buluxo Foundation, The Humanitarian Network UK, SheUnitesAfrica, and The Nigerian Red Cross. They have also gained international recognition through participation in the Worldwide AI hackathon. 

FriendnPal is a unique platform that has transformed access to mental health support in Africa. Their chatbot is reported to assist users dealing with stress, anxiety, and depression.
