Spotlighting the Founder of Herconomy: Ife Durosinmi-Etti

Ife Durosinmi-Etti is an inspiring British-Nigerian business executive, author and global leader who has made a remarkable impact in Fashion, Marketing and Manufacturing Industries. She has worked for different companies, from Aspire Acquisitions to Arcadia Group, Nigerian Breweries, etc, gaining expertise and experience that has shaped her journey. She founded Parliamo Bambini with Olamide Olatunbosun and, later, Herconomy, a fintech company dedicated to empowering women through business grants, fellowships and scholarships. Her story of raising $600,000 through crowdfunding on Instagram to finance the first disbursement of grants is a true testament to her resilience and determination. 

She has also collaborated with Amazon to get business funds to the minority female demographic, and her efforts in recruitment have made a significant impact. Her company, Herconomy, was selected for the 2023 Black Founders Fund by Google, and they received $150k in grant funding.

When reflecting on her ten years of management and leadership experience working in the fashion, marketing, and manufacturing industry, Ife Durosinmi-Etti shared her insights. She emphasised that leading with empathy, building relationships, and networking are as important as any skillset and that good leadership is crucial. She also warned of the detrimental effects of bad leadership on colleagues and concluded that Leaders must keep growing and improving themselves to add value to their team and organisation.
